It was difficult for educators to self-care pre-pandemic. However, during the pandemic the level of intensity was taken to a new level with educators being over-tasked, under-resourced, and not prioritizing self-care. Returning to face-to-face in the fall educators are excepted to work with students affected by the trauma of the pandemic- both health and racial. Education is emotional labor- this session will offer some ways for trauma-informed educators to cope, care for themselves, and prevent burnout.

I have worked in the area of early childhood education, literacy and social emotional learning for thirty years.  I believe we as educators should conform to the needs of the learner, not the learner conform to our needs.
